Take That are hoping to make their gigs Shine for fans by going hi-tech and using virtual reality headsets.
Singer Gary Barlow says he was blown away by the immersive technology used by U2 during their show at the Las Vegas Sphere. The venue has a 160,000 sq ft LED screen that wraps around the auditorium and is around 16 times sharper than most high-end TVs.
After seeing Bono and his bandmates perform, Gary said: “When the screen came on, 18,000 people breathed in. Things like the Sphere, or headsets and VR are going to move our music on. Imagine coming to our gig and everyone’s got those goggles on… that’s where I think the improvements are going to come.”

Gary, 53, who revealed Take That have been in talks for their own Vegas residency, added: “We’ve been listening to music a long time, then we had videos to accompany the music. What’s next? I think experiences are going to get bigger.”
Take That will begin a six-month, 72-date tour in April in support of latest album This Life . But Gary says he is the “class bore” as he can’t handle late nights or boozing like bandmates Mark Owen, 52, and Howard Donald, 55. He said: “I want to be 150% on stage. The others are in better physical shape than me.”
