Are you left disappointed every time you look out of your window at the state of your garden? Well, one gardening expert has revealed how to spruce up your lawn in just four weeks.

The dull colour strikes when grass suffers from severe drought, which can be caused by water-repellent soil, even during the wetter months. The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) explains that it can be difficult to improve the soil at this stage.

What’s more, homeowners looking to sell their property have been warned that a patchy garden could knock two percent off the value of a house. Fortunately, gardening expert Jack Skilling has shared his five simple steps for transforming your lawn in just one month.

Taking to TikTok, under the username @thelawnpack, the green-figured guru presented before and after footage of a luscious lawn, to highlight the staggering difference between the two.

He said: "We started by scarifying the lawn, this removed any excess thatch and allows the lawn to breathe." This can be performed with a rake or scarifying machine, where you scratch the grass to remove the thatch.

Gardeners World writes: "Aim to keep the amount of thatch in a lawn less than 1cm deep. It can look unsightly initially but if you trust the process you'll have a lush, green lawn in no time."

The next step involves applying quality granular seeding fertiliser, states Jack. These deliver key nutrients to the lawn which encourage grass growth and provide solid foundations for new seedlings.

Jack added: "Step three is to apply an appropriate high quality seed mix, which in this case was all dwarf ryegrass to make sure it was resilient as it was being used quite frequently by pets and general usage." Cotswold Seeds reports that ryegrass is quick to establish and competes well with weeds. It can also tolerate low cutting to produce a dense turf.

"We then applied liquid seaweed, which is an organic bio-stimulant and will help root development," said Jack. Seaweed is a type of algae that boasts essential nutrients which helps grass grow thicker and stronger. Garden Lawncare Guy added that the bio-stimulant properties "help the overall growth of plants, reduce stress and improve plant health".

The final step requires watering the entire lawn daily for four weeks. Jack concluded: "The same process is entirely possible with your lawn, so in four weeks your lawn could be vibrant and green too."
