To say I like reading feels like a massive understatement, we're not even a month and a half into 2024 and I've already read 18 books this year and it only makes me hungry to read more.

There are many ways to read but my favourite is snuggled up in bed under a cosy blanket with rain sounds and a candle on so it's hardly a surprise that I do most of my reading at night.

The issue with this is my overhead light and lamps can sometimes be too bright and that's will put me off reaching for one of my hundreds of paperbacks (I am not risking a heavy hardcover once I'm tired) and instead opt to shut off the lights and go for something on my Kindle where I can adjust the screen brightness to suit myself. It means my physical copies aren't getting as much love as I'd like and I've found myself impatiently waiting to have the time to reach for them.

But then I got the Glocusent Upgraded LED Neck Reading Light and it's been a game changer.

I opted for the grey colour and was surprised that it's much darker in person than it seems on the display pictures but that's not a problem as I'm not too hung up on the appearance of it.

The light is really flexible with adjustable rubber along the sides that allows you to manoeuvre it to face whichever way suits you but the part that actually rests against your neck is a smaller and more rigid material. It's not weightless but it's not particularly heavy either - you definitely notice it's there.

I will say if you have a more full bust that this may be a little more difficult to use. I found that if I was sitting to read with a book in my lap and a comfy hoody that sometimes the light didn't reach all of the page because by default it was bouncing from my chest. This is easily fixed by simply reading on your back but it is worth noting if you like to read sat up.

The one thing that really stands out about this is that it perfectly lights just your book, the surrounding area stays dark. Your pages are lit up better than if you were sat next to a lamp and it's really easy to use. Changing the warmth level is a breeze although I found the warmest option to be a little too orange.

Overall I quite like this and I think it's a fairly reasonable price at £23.99, I've not tried the sleep timer as I'm a stubborn reader who won't close their eyes while a book is open but I think that's great it you read to go to sleep.
