A transgender teenager was rushed to hospital after being stabbed 14 times in northwest London, a court heard.

The 18-year-old girl was attacked in a 'shocking and violent attack' on Saturday evening (February 10) in Harrow. Summer Betts-Ramsey, 19, appeared at Willesden Magistrates Court on Tuesday (February 13), and has been charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon in public.

The court heard that the victim was attacked by a group after being subjected to transphobic slurs at a roller-skating party. Prosecutor Bunsri Bhuwa confirmed to the court that the victim was a transgender teenage girl. Police were called at 7pm to Masons Avenue following the report of an assault where the 18-year-old was found at the scene with stab injuries, reports MyLondon.

She was taken to hospital and has since been discharged. According to the Evening Standard, Betts-Ramsey cried in the dock and she confirmed her details and her address in Cricklewood. She will remain in custody until March 12, when her plea hearing will take place at the Old Bailey. After finding this out the 19-year-old wanted to speak to her mother. She yelled "I love you" as she was taken back to her cell.

Four people have been arrested since the attack and the Met have upped patrols in the area. Detective Inspector Nicola Hannant, who is leading the investigation, said: "This was a shocking and violent attack and we continue to support the victim and her family as she recovers from her injuries."
