What you do with your body hair is your business, and your business only.

But if you are someone who prefers to shave, you likely know how irritating (literally, and figuratively) it can be when where you've shaved starts to look bumpy, and maybe even rashy.

It can make you feel uncomfortable, and less confident when getting intimate with your Valentine, but thankfully, Lounge Underwear have shared ways you can avoid getting razor bumps and rashes in your intimate areas - so if you're planning an "everything shower" this evening, we've got you covered.

The first step you need to take is to trim your pubic hair - especially if you're not a regular shaver.

Experts at Lounge recommend getting yourself a small pair of scissors, as this will ensure you don't "clog your razor with long hairs", or cause yourself any unnecessary pain when you're shaving. Plus, it'll save you time in the long run.

Before you shave, you need to take a warm shower. The experts said: "The steam from a warm shower will open up your pores and will actually make your hair follicles soften slightly - so if you want a pain-free shave, it's time to get steamy." And, it doesn't matter whether you shave in the bath, or the shower - it's completely up to you.

Experts at Lounge also said that it's really important to use an actual shaving cream, rather than just relying on soap, as "shaving cream provides an extra layer of protection." They recommend using a shaving cream with aloe vera in it, "to keep your skin soothed and calm while you shave."

Also, use a fresh razor, as it's not only more hygienic, but it's the most efficient option if you want a good, close shave. Now, you're ready to shave - but what's the best way? Well, you need to shave in the direction of growth. If you do this, you'll likely not get the uncomfortable itchiness when it grows back. They said: "Take your time - it's a delicate process, so go slowly and carefully until you get the perfect result."

It's not just a case of shaving and then putting your loungewear on either - you need to give yourself some aftercare. Ensure that you moisturise where you've shaved with a post-shave lotion. This could also help you to avoid rashiness.

Also, if your razor isn't disposable, you need to clean it once you've finished, as your future self will definitely thank you. You need to run your razor under warm water, and shake it to ensure "all hair is removed."

Lounge Underwear experts also shared advice to never shave dry, stay away from fragranced products in your most intimate areas, and wear breathable underwear.
