A young man has discovered it is cheaper to stay in an all-inclusive resort on the Mediterranean than renting in the UK.

If anyone needed more proof that the British property market might be a little too expensive, then Josh Kerr has found it. The renter was looking at holidays in the Mediterranean when he realised an all inclusive Turkish resort was a cheaper option than his current home.

He filmed himself discovering the holiday deal in a video he uploaded to TikTok. In it he explains how he pays £950 a month for a flat in Manchester. That is actually a pretty good deal, given that the average rented property in the city costs £1,600, according to Zoopla.

The North West city may be a cultural and sporting hub, but it's not cheap and it's not famous for good weather - especially in the winter months when rain and wind are a fixture.

Josh realised that instead of seeing out the long winter, he could be jetting off to Antalya in Turkey to the Xoria Deluxe Resort. If you are ready to fly in two days' time from London Luton Airport, you could stay at the resort for £938 per person for 28 days.

That means being set up 300m from a beach which is known for its snorkelling and windsurfing, in a hotel with a spa, multiple bars and five outdoor swimming pools. The deal is an all-inclusive one, meaning you wouldn't have to fork out anything for food and drink during your stay.

You’ll also get to use free Wi-Fi, a large pool with a hot tub and waterslides, a gym and wellness centre, and entertainment throughout the day and night.

"I’ve just found out it’s cheaper to live at a 5-star all inclusive resort than it is to live in Manchester,’ Josh said in the clip. Even looking at the gaff, it’s a 5-star hotel. I mean, it looks pretty bog-standard to me, but it’s decent for £900 a month. I’m not being funny right, but I pay £950 for my rent, bills, council tax and that. Here, you get breakfast, lunch, evening meals, drinks, snacks and a gaff. What are we doing in England?"

Although the Xoria Deluxe was classified as 5-star by Giata based on amenities and services, it has been rated an average of 4 out of 5 according to reviewers on Tripadvisor.

Obviously the deal only really works out cheaper if you don't have to pay for a property back in the UK. One man took to the TikTok comment section to explain how he had got around this potential obstacle.

"I did this for £1,200 for 28 nights to Tenerife and Airbnb’d my gaff out and got about £950 back for the same month," he wrote. Another person added: "I've decided I'm going to move heaven and hell to get a remote job and just do this."

It is important to note that Antalya does not have blue skies and heat throughout the year. While the average daily highs are 33C in July, in February and March they are around 17C, so you may struggle a little to use the outdoor pool.
