Andy Reid, the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, gave his team a simple but powerful message at halftime: "keep going".

Despite being seven points down, this encouragement led to their Super Bowl victory. Travis Kelce, the Chiefs' tight end, revealed their ambition to achieve a "three-peat" after their win against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.

Despite trailing 10-3 at the end of the first half, Reid's faith in his team never wavered. His halftime pep talk was short but impactful. He said: "I didn't say a whole lot, I just said 'keep going'," demonstrating his belief in the team's ability to turn the game around.

The coach further explained his halftime speech, saying: "At halftime, it was right there. When you're in the Super Bowl and you're down by seven points it feels like 20. So you just have to calm it down. We are right there, we had the ball to start the second half, everybody, just hand with each other, and good things can happen."

It wasn't just Reid who was communicating, as he revealed that Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, and Chris Jones all met on Saturday night to discuss the 'message' they wanted to send to their teammates. "That was the message," added Reid. "The guys were saying that.

"Kelce, Chris, and Pat talked the night before. They did a great job of communicating that. It's a brotherhood. Stick together. We are playing a good football team there are going to be highs and lows in this thing. Just stick together, good things can happen."

In the third quarter, the Chiefs scored nine unanswered points to take the lead. Harrison Butker kicked a field goal, his second of the game, and also an extra point after Marquez Valdes-Scantling scored their first touchdown of the afternoon.

They allowed wide receiver Jauan Jennings to put San Francisco ahead, but Mahomes did what everyone expected him to do on the final drive of regulation, keep the Chiefs in the game. The defence then did their job in overtime, holding the 49ers to a field goal, but then the Chiefs went down the other end to rule in Las Vegas.

It was a huge blow for the Niners, who once again went so close to ending their 29-year wait for Super Bowl success. But Mahomes became the youngest quarterback in history to win three Super Bowls, and Tom Brady's record is now under threat.
