Andy Reid, the head coach of Kansas City Chiefs, has confirmed he will remain in charge in 2024 despite speculation about retirement.

Reid dismissed any thoughts of calling it quits after leading his team to their second consecutive Super Bowl victory. Despite being 65 and one of the most successful coaches in NFL history, Reid declared he'll be back in 2024, simply replying "yep" when asked the question.

Reid admitted that he hasn't given much thought to retirement, saying on Monday morning: "I honestly haven't even thought about it (retirement), but I get asked it," and "Really haven't though why or what or anything else, but people keep asking me, and I keep saying 'why did [Bill] Belichick and Pete [Carroll] retire?' Ask those old guys that question."

He added: "I'm the old guy now, so I guess I'm going to be asked that. And I really haven't gone there. I really haven't thought about it." Instead, Reid is focusing on building a dynasty with the Chiefs, with quarterback Patrick Mahomes already talking about a historic three-peat.

Reid spoke about the possibility of his team making history by winning three Super Bowls in a row. He said that while they don't get to decide if they're called a dynasty, he hopes they'll eventually get that label from those that write their story.

"Well, listen, it's history," he said. "How you write it will be how you write it, and whether it's a dynasty, we don't determine whether it's a dynasty, you guys do.

"But I would tell you that it's as fun a group as I've ever been around, and I've been around, been fortunate to be around some great organisations and great teams, and this group here, and organisation, are tremendous. If someone said dynasty and tagged it onto it, I'd be very proud of that."
