Tottenham are adamant that Ange Postecoglou will remain at the club rather than succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

Postecoglou has impressed in his first season as a Premier League manager, with Spurs currently sitting fourth in the table. The Australian has won plaudits for his attacking brand of football, despite losing star man James Maddison and dealing with a defensive injury crisis.

His work with Spurs has seen him rise up the shortlist to replace Klopp at Anfield. The German will leave his role as Reds boss at the end of the season after turning the Merseysiders into one of England's top teams.

There will be an intense focus on the search for his successor, with Postecoglou one of the names under consideration. He still has three years to run on his Spurs contract, even if the Liverpool job is tempting.

And according to the Daily Telegraph, Tottenham chiefs hold 'no fears' that Postecoglou will leave. Instead they are 'extremely confident' that the Australian will stay at the club to build on the work he has started this season.

His contract means that he can earn significant bonuses and pay rises through good results. Postecoglou was a boyhood fan of Liverpool, though that has not raised concerns at his current club.

They believe he is 'completely committed' to his work at Tottenham, with the Australian hinting he is eyeing a long spell at Spurs. While the Liverpool job may appeal, Spurs chiefs are pressing ahead with Postecoglou as their long-term boss.

Though their chances of winning a trophy are over for another year, Postecoglou has insisted he wants to win silverware with Tottenham. The Australian has heavily hinted he sees the job at Spurs as a long-term project.

"I love winning - it is what I have done all my career. Every year I start the year hoping there is a picture by the end of the year of me with a team lifting a trophy. That is what I have tried to do my whole career and I have got plenty of evidence of that," he said last month.

"So that’s what my intent is here. I don’t have to visualise it - it’s what I do. The people who have had success at this football club are rightly honoured. If you walk around the home dressing room - those are the only pictures we have got up there.

"Teams and individuals that have won things because we know how important they are to this football club. We don’t hide those things away, you absolutely put them up as an example of what you want to be.

"I would hate to think there would be any football club that would not care about winning a pretty significant trophy. For us, like I said, we want to try to win every competition we are in because that is the stature of this football club.

"I’ve enjoyed the experience so far, it’s everything I’ve wanted it to be whether it’s challenges or the space I’m working in at the same time, the years of experience I’ve had have prepared me well for it."
