Super Bowl LVIII result will see Chiefs or 49ers join elite club

Which NFL team has the most Super Bowl wins? And where do Chiefs and 49ers stand?

The current champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, are set to face off against the San Francisco 49ers at Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas this Sunday.

The Chiefs have three Super Bowl victories under their belt from 1970, 2020, and 2023. On the other hand, the Niners boast five wins, although they haven't tasted victory since the era of Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, and Steve Young.

Both teams have star players with Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Chris Jones among the Chiefs star names and Christian McCaffrey, Brock Purdy and Fred Warner leading the way for the 49ers.

Many fans are rooting for San Francisco this Sunday, hoping to see Purdy and his team spoil the party for Kelce and his girlfriend, Taylor Swift. The couple made their relationship public during a Chiefs' home win over the Chicago Bears last September.

If San Francisco manages to topple Kansas City at Super Bowl LVIII, they'll join two other franchises with the most Lombardi trophies. But if they lose and the Chiefs win, it will tie KC with the New York Giants and the Green Bay Packers with four wins, and three will have come in the last five seasons.

It is the New England Patriots who lead the way have six wins, led by Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, it is arguably the most legendary run in NFL history. They bagged all six Lombardis between 2002 and 2019, while they have made a record 11 appearances in the season finale.

Their victories were against the St. Louis Rams, Carolina Panthers, Philadelphia Eagles, Seattle Seahawks, Atlanta Falcons, and Los Angeles Rams. Their comeback from 25 points behind to win in overtime against Atlanta is the biggest of all time.

The Pittsburgh Steelers also have six Super Bowl wins, tying with New England. They've won against teams such as the Minnesota Vikings, Dallas Cowboys (twice), Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals. Their first Lombardi Trophy was in 1975 against Minnesota and their last was in 2009 against Arizona.

The San Francisco 49ers have five Super Bowl wins. This Sunday will be their eighth appearance in the Super Bowl. Their victories were against the Cincinnati Bengals (twice), Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, and San Diego Chargers.

The Dallas Cowboys also have five Super Bowl wins. Just like the Niners, Dallas has been to the Super Bowl eight times and won five of them. But they haven't had much luck recently, even though they've made it to the playoffs 36 times.

They beat the Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, Buffalo Bills (twice), and the Pittsburgh Steelers to win their five Super Bowls. The Cowboys first won in 1972 against the Dolphins, and then again six years later against Denver. They won three more in the 90s, each time by more than ten points.

The Green Bay Packers have only won the Super Bowl four times - but they've won 13 NFL Championships in total because some were before the Super Bowl started. They beat the Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, and the Pittsburgh Steelers to win their Super Bowls. The Packers' first-ever Super Bowl was against the Chiefs and they won 35-10. Their most recent win was in 2011 when Aaron Rodgers and his team beat Pittsburgh.

The New York Giants have won the Super Bowl four times. They beat the Denver Broncos, Buffalo Bills, and New England Patriots (twice) to win their Super Bowls. The last time they won was in 2012. Eli Manning was the quarterback who led the team to their last Super Bowl victory, beating rival Brady.
