McDonald's Breakfast Wrap fans, look away now.

Last month, McDonald's delighted fans some fans when it announced that the breakfast wrap would soon be available in stores after it was axed from menus in 2020. Fast forward to this week, and the long-awaited return of the wrap was finally upon us as the fast food chain launched its latest menu - which also included the new McSpicy x Frank's burger.

But if you were thinking of treating yourself to a Maccies breakfast this weekend to celebrate the wrap's glorious comeback, then think again - because McDonald's has already removed it from the menu. That's right, the wrap was tantalisingly dangled in front of us for mere days before it was cruelly ripped away again. Well, sort of.

The wrap isn't gone for good, McDonald's says, but it has been temporarily taken off menus because the restaurant chain is concerned that there's so much demand for it that they won't have enough breakfast ingredients to stock the rest of their early morning menu.

A spokesperson said: "Due to an unprecedented demand, McDonald's has had to temporarily remove the Breakfast Wrap from the menu, to avoid running out of all wider breakfast items."

The fast food chain is expecting to have the wrap back on menus (for the third time) next week after issues around ingredients stock have been resolved. After all, the wrap contains almost all the ingredients found in other breakfast items - including two free-range eggs, a pork sausage patty, a slice of bacon, a crispy potato rosti and cheese - so it's no wonder the demand for the wraps would leave them short.

McDonald's chose to bring back the wrap after claiming fans had begged for the wrap to make a comeback and said there were 22 petitions to bring it back, as well as 5,000 direct messages sent to the company's social media accounts. But the chain quickly learned the hard way that you can't please everyone, as news of the wrap's return left some demanding the company rethink their decision and bring back a different breakfast item instead - the bagel.

Both the bagels and the wraps were removed in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, as McDonald's ran a limited menu when they first re-opened stores after lockdown. Even as other menu items returned when the chain began offering its full menu again, the bagels and wraps were sneakily kept off - and now some fans are furious that McDonald's has decided to bring back the "wrong one".

Angry fans took to both Instagram and X, formerly known as Twitter, to vent their frustrations underneath the posts advertising the return of the wrap. One person wrote: "Noooo, it's gotta be the bagels," while another added: "Now it's time to talk about the bagel." Someone else also penned: "BAGELS BAGELS BAGELS", as a fourth voiced their opinion as they said: "BRING BACK THE BAGEL!"
