A man was killed when he fell into a feed mixer as he worked on his family’s farm, amid claims he lost his balance and toppled in.

Police officer İbrahim Aydemir was helping relatives when the accident happened at the farm in Çırpı, Bayındır, Turkey. He lost his balance as he tried to pour liquid fertiliser into a feed mixer and then got caught in the shaft of the machine. Some family members witnessed the horror accident unfold and called the emergency services - but by the time the paramedics arrived on the scene, İbrahim was dead.

His body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute in nearby İzmir to be autopsied. İbrahim worked as a guard at the Bayındır District Police Department. Local prosecutors have launched an investigation into his death. It is not currently known what caused him to lose his balance.

His devastated family have spoken about the impact his death has had on them. Mr Aydemir's father Wil said: "I am absolutely devastated and broken by Macauley’s death. He was not only my son but my best friend and work partner." He was a fun, happy go lucky young man with a huge passion and love for machinery since a really young age, and I will miss him more than words can describe.

“I would like to thank everybody who did what they could to help in trying to save Macauley, the members of the public, the attending paramedics and the doctors and nurses at Ysbyty Gwynedd Bangor hospital and Royal Stoke University hospital. I am still continuing to process these events so would kindly ask for privacy during this difficult time.”
