Global icon and all-round pop sensation, Taylor Swift stunned fans with the announcement of the release of a new album.

The singer dropped the bombshell while collecting the Grammy award for Best Pop Vocal Album for Midnights, her 13th Grammy award to date.

The singer said “Okay this is my 13th Grammy. Which is my lucky number... if I’ve ever told you that.

“I know that the way the Recording Academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion from the fans. So I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I have been keeping from you for the last two years.

“Which is that my brand new album comes out April 19, it’s called The Tortured Poets Department, I’m going to go and post the cover right now backstage, thank you I love you.”

Tay-Tay also made music history at the award ceremony, becoming the first artist to win the prize for a fourth time, having previously won for Fearless, 1989 and Folklore. The 34-year-old pop megastar has now overtaken the likes of Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon and Frank Sinatra, who had previously tied with her on three wins each.

Looking to the future, her legions of fans will be excited to know that The Tortured Poets Department will be released on April 19, 2024.

At the moment, the album is only available to preorder through the singer's official website where fans can choose to purchase it on CD, Vinyl or cassette.

For fans looking to download the album on the day that it drops, it will be released globally via the usual streaming sites including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Tidal and more.

Music lovers could get a lot more Taylor for less if they sign up for digital downloads with Apple Music. The streaming site is currently offering a one-month free trial (£10.99 a month thereafter unless cancelled), or music lovers could get free months free with selected tech purchased from Currys - perfect if you need new headphones or a new laptop to listen on.

Amazon Music is also offering 30 days of free music with unlimited access to 100 million songs. Subscribers can choose to cancel anytime or carry on with the £10.99 monthly payment to listen for longer.

Sell-out shows will take place in London, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Liverpool and Dublin in 2024, as well as across several cities in Europe including Amsterdam, Paris, Lisbon and more.
