A driver has been pulled over by police after attempting to fix his smashed-up car – with nothing more than household wallpaper.
Hilarious photos show how the motorist used parcel tape and the flower-themed lining to hide a huge hole in the bodywork of his Silver Toyota Yaris hatchback. Stunned officers who spotted the baffling bodge job while checking vehicles in Bradford, West Yorkshire, called the car the “highlight of the evening”.
They said the motor had now been banned by the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) - and its owner was reported for its terrible condition. The DVSA enforcement team had been working with the Steerside Enforcement Team and Bradford Council's Taxi Licensing and Enforcement Department over the weekend. The motorist was also reported for driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition and for having a bald tyre.

Yes, that is wallpaper and brown parcel tape covering accident damage from the day before. It wasprohibited from being driven by DVSA and the driver was reported for driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition and a bald tyre."
Posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, the force posted: “Tonight we've been working with our partners from the Council's Taxi Licencing and Enforcement Department and @DVSAEnforcement checking that vehicles were safe and roadworthy. Various Private Hire Taxis and other vehicles were taken off the road after being inspected. And defects being found.

"Other drivers were dealt with for traffic offences such as failing to wear seatbelts, using mobile phones while driving and driving without insurance. One driver was arrested by @WYP_BradfordW Officers for drug driving having failed a roadside test.”
Locals who spotted the pictures of the dodgy car on social media praised police for taking it off the road. One said: “Unbelievable but well done to you.” Meanwhile, another joked: “It’s how most cars in Bradford are repaired. Get use[d] to it.”
West Yorkshire Police's Operation Steerside Team has been dedicated to tackling dangerous and anti-social driving in Bradford since 2016.
