Legion XIII LIV Golf team member Jon Rahm was accidentally caught yelling "f*** off" on a hot mic in his debut tournament for the organization.

On the eighth hole, Rahm released an expletive after misjudging an approach shot while setting up a putt. Then, on the 18th hole, Rahm reacted similarly, exclaiming, "F***! Get lucky." Amid his frustration, the ball landed in the bunker.

Rahm, who inked a reported $600 million deal with LIV Golf at the close of 2023, got off to a blazing start by birdieing five of his first seven holes, quickly vaulting into early contention. Despite reaching 7-under par through 15 holes, he encountered a setback towards the end of his round. Rahm concluded his round with back-to-back bogeys, halting his momentum.

The foul-mouthed footage circulated on social media and was met with divided responses. In favour of Rahm's expressive personality, one fan wrote: "Him and [Tyrrell] Hatton are pure comedy." Another fan in favour of Rahm responded: "Love it. Grow the game."

Opposing opinions were upset that the colourful language was allowed, as some people considered golf to be a kid-friendly event. There were also complaints about the broadcast quality as Rahm took the course.

A frustrated X user said: "Classy. Very family-friendly there. Glad I can no longer watch golf around my kids. What a world." Another disappointed viewer wrote: "Typical language coming from this league. Disgraceful to the fans and young spectators. That is how you grow the game?"

Rahm addressed the media after finishing in third place, noting differences between LIV and the PGA Tour. The Saudi-backed organization allowed music to play on the course to increase the viewer's experience. "It's definitely a little different vibe, but I quite enjoy the music," Rahm said. "It's not too different to how we play at home."

"A lot of us have, especially the people I play with, have golf carts with some pretty powerful speakers," he continued. "If anything it was low compared to what I'm used to. Yeah, it was great, plus I got paired with two of the nicest people you can get paired with. Talor and Cam are extremely nice."

Rahm said Wednesday at the Mayakoba Resort, where the first LIV Golf event of the year began Friday, that the weeks leading up to his announcement to join LIV were challenging. Ultimately, he decided that the team aspect of the organization was a key piece and that the move was best for himself and his family financially.

LIV Golf Las Vegas, the league's next tournament, will occur from Feb. 8 to 10 at the Las Vegas Country Club. Rahm and his teammates are expected to participate in their quest to win the Team Championship at the end of the year.
