The fact that two XL Bully-type monsters were able to savage gran Esther Martin to death raises disturbing questions.
The tragedy as she was visiting her grandson came only days after a law was passed to protect people from these ferocious dogs.
Police are investigating and praised neighbours who risked their own lives in trying to save Esther who was visiting her grandson.
But clearly the law needs revisiting if it fails to protect humans from XLs and similar breeds.
When taking them outside owners must now muzzle these creatures in England and Wales, with Scotland intending to do the same.

But inside there is no requirement to fit a guard around incredibly powerful jaws.
These snarling, muscled beasts are dangerous and responsible for a high number of deaths caused by dogs. A clue to their unsuitability is in the name: XL or Extra Large Bully.

As the danger increases of Britain and other nations being sucked into prolonged military action, the UK Government must set out clearly what its strategy is and be honest about the risks.

question the PM and Ministers, debate the pros and cons then vote on what is a small war in danger of becoming a bigger war.
Regrettably the new Foreign Secretary, David Cameron isn’t directly answerable to the Commons as he has become a peer.
Rishi Sunak, Defence Secretary Grant Shapps, and Cameron’s deputy, Andrew Mitchell, must all be held to account.
