Arnold Schwarzenegger paid tribute to his fallen co-star

Arnold Schwarzenegger is the latest celebrity to pay tribute to the late actor Carl Weathers.

On Friday, Carl's manager Matt Luber confirmed that the 76-year-old actor died. His family released a statement that called the fallen actor a "beloved brother, father, grandfather, partner, and friend."

Carl is best known for playing Apollo Creed in the Rocky franchise alongside Sylvester Stallone. He's also known for starring in the 1987 film Predator as Colonel Al Dillon alongside Arnold.

The Terminator star shared photos from the film in an Instagram post. He captioned it: "Carl Weathers will always be a legend. An extraordinary athlete, a fantastic actor, and a great person."

"We couldn’t have made Predator without him," he continued, "And we certainly wouldn’t have had such a wonderful time making it. Every minute with him - on set and off - was pure joy. He was the type of friend who pushes you to be your best just to keep up with him. I’ll miss him, and my thoughts are with his family."

Arnold is the latest celebrity to share his condolences. Creed star and former WBC World cruiserweight champion, Tony Bellew, took to Twitter to write: "RIP Carl Weathers!!" along with a crying face emoji and a picture of Carl from his time as Apollo Creed.

Carl also co-starred in Happy Gilmore alongside Adam Sandler. The comedy star shared a tribute on Instagram with a black and white photo of Carl.

"A true great man. Great dad. Great actor. Great athlete. So much fun to be around always. Smart as hell. Loyal as hell. Funny as hell," Adam wrote.

He continued: "Loved his sons more than anything. What a guy!! Everyone loved him. My wife and I had the best times with him every time we saw him. Love to his entire family and Carl will always be known as a true legend."

The Last of Us actor Pedro Pascal shared a photo of Carl on Instagram with the simple caption: "Words fail," with a broken heart emoji. Pedro starred alongside Carl on the hit Disney+ Star Wars spin-off, The Mandalorian.
