Warzone players have a lot to look forward to in the upcoming Season 2 update. Here's when Warzone Season 2 starts and new content you can expect to see when it launches.
The latest big content update for Call of Duty's battle royale title is edging ever closer, with Activision confirming that several new features and updates are coming for Warzone Season 2, including the re-introduction of Fortune's Keep to Resurgence. The now Microsoft-owned publisher will hope Season 2 enjoys a smoother launch than Warzone Season 1 Reloaded, which belatedly introduced a new Champions Quest and a new Gulag Public event, after some bugs were ironed out.
Here's the confirmed Warzone Season 2 start date and what to expect when the big content update launches.
Activision has confirmed via a blog post that the Warzone Season 2 start date is Wednesday, February 7, with the update set to go live on all platforms simultaneously including Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. There's no word about how big the update will be in terms of pure size, but based on previous updates it's likely to be around 20GB in size.
One of the biggest features coming to Warzone Season 2 is the re-introduction of Fortune's Keep, the popular Resurgence map that first launched in June 2022, but was removed from the game following the launch of Warzone 2 – the appropriately named second iteration of Warzone – back in November 2022. But, judging by the screenshots that have been shown so far in another dedicated blog post, the map has been updated somewhat.
Why Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's six week delay is a good thingThere looks to be some significant earthquake damage that stretches across the map, with a total of 11 POIs confirmed including:
Some of the above will be very familiar to Warzone players, particularly Winery, Keep, Terraces, Lighthouse, and Overlook, but the screenshots show there's been some re-working of the environments around those classic POIs, with aquatic vehicles also introduced, thanks to the northern cliffs below the Keep being modified.
In addition to Fortune's Keep's re-introduction, Warzone Season 2 will also be introducing Ranked Play to the Resurgence mode, where the best players in the world will fight it out to be ranked among the top 250 players in the world. Players who are at least level 55 can play Ranked Resurgence at launch, with the mode only being playable on the Fortune's Keep map, in Trios only and with certain restrictions enabled, such as no turreted vehicles and other restricted gameplay elements.
Activision has also confirmed that following the rollout of Ranked across MW3 multiplayer and now Resurgence, the ultra-competitive mode will be coming to Battle Royale later this year.
There are also several new weapons being added for Warzone Season 2, which are detailed below:
BP50 (Assault Rifle — Launch, Battle Pass Sector B7)
RAM-9 (Submachine Gun — Launch, Battle Pass Sector B6)
SOA Subverter (Battle Rifle — In-Season, Weekly Challenge)
Soulrender (Melee — In-Season, [[REDACTED]])
Ahead of the launch of Warzone Season 2, make sure you have the best Warzone controller settings enabled and that you've got the best Warzone graphics settings, to give you the smoothest gameplay experience possible.
