If you're splashing out on expensive shampoos and conditioners, only to find your hair is still lacking that celeb-esque shine - there could be a simple way to fix it. Of course, there are a slew of reasons that contribute to dull hair - including your diet, sun exposure, and heat styling.

There are also a bunch of serums, sprays, and oils you can add after washing your hair that promises to bring back that healthy glow. However, experts warn that your lacklustre locks could be caused by washing your hair at the wrong temperature.

Vinci Hair Clinic specialises in hair restoration and operates in 13 countries across five continents - one of which is situated on the prestigious Harley Street in London. So far, their team of specialist doctors has satisfied a whopping 100,000 customers struggling with hair loss.

In its blog, in-house experts have revealed the best method for keeping your hair healthy and shiny. "In general, you can wash your hair with water that is 100°F or 38°C (slightly warmer than your body temperature)." the post reads. "Hot water removes filth, grime and buildup from hair. It also does not harm your hair's internal protein structure and promotes blood flow to the scalp's follicles."

Vinci added that you can use a lower temperature in the summer if a 38C shower is too hot. However, the key is to always finish off with a cold rinse to help 'close open pores and raised cuticles'.

Experts added: "Cold water seals the hair cuticles and keeps your scalp clean. It also blocks your pores, making them less sensitive to debris, oil and grease."

If your hair is more greasy than shiny, dry shampoo is often the go-to. However, one woman recently discovered she's been using the product wrong - and now raves about her new approach.

Influencer Bambi Does Beauty recommends using a powdered dry shampoo rather than a spray bottle on hair that has been washed that day - rather than waiting until your locks become too greasy to step outside. She urged her 462,000 followers to invest in a 'heavy duty' dry shampoo and then 'flipping' your hair to boost volume.

She says her hair would get greasy 'seven hours after watching it' but thanks to the 'game-changing' hack - now stays oil-free for much longer. Other beauty fans hailed using a homemade powder, which they say is more effective and cheaper than store-bought versions.
