River Island shoppers are obsessing over an “elegant” trench coat after spotting it on social media. Loved by style icons like Princess Kate and Frankie Bridge, a trench coat is something you can wear anywhere - and this high-street option is sure to sell out.

The Beige Double Collar Belted Trench Coat, £90 here, is a perfect way to embrace the classic outwear trend during the transition from winter to spring. River Island recently shared a video of digital creator Erna Leon to its Instagram page, in which she can be seen styling the brand’s trench coat in three different ways - and fans rushed to leave glowing comments.

We couldn’t help but notice the outerwear item looks extremely-similar to a designer version that costs a staggering £4,430. Available at Harrods, The Row’s June belted cotton-gabardine trench coat is currently trending online, but with an eye-watering price tag, it may be out of budget for many. Coming in at less than £100, River Island’s take on the timeless staple is a whole lot cheaper.

The high-street favourite’s website states the Beige Double Collar Belted Trench Coat is now “selling fast,” and it’s not hard to see why. What we love most is its belt that cinches you in the waist, and can be left undone if you prefer a more oversized look.

With a button-up design, the sophisticated number is finished with side slip pockets and falls to the shins. It’s the perfect jacket for wearing over dresses, jeans, skirts… the list goes on. There’s also a black version available at riverisland.com - so you needn’t worry if you’re not keen on beige.

The £90 item is already proving popular with fashion fans on social media. River Island’s Instagram post of @mercer7official wearing its trench has received lots of praise, with one person commenting: “Elegant is the word for these trench coats,” while another simply wrote: “Stunning.”

You can snap up the Beige Double Collar Belted Trench Coat in UK sizes from six to 18, here.

Marks and Spencer stocks a similar style with a detachable belt, nude hue and longline design - but it’s slightly cheaper.

The M&S Collection Cotton Rich Belted Longline Trench Coat costs £79 online. One reviewer said of the jacket: "Absolutely stunning coat, great quality and price," but another wasn't impressed with the sizing, adding: " Way way too long on me. Im 5 ft 3."
