Comedian Russell Brand has spoken out and revealed his friendship with conspiracy theorist David Icke.

Speaking on Tucker Carlson's X show today (Wednesday, January 31), Brand revealed his praise for the conspiracy theorist as he told Carlson and listeners that he believed him to be "ahead of the curve". Brand and Icke's relationship goes back nearly 20 years. In 2008, Icke appeared twice as a guest on the Forgetting Sarah Marshall star's infamous BBC Radio 2 programme.

Speaking on the show, Brand addressed his friendship with David Icke as he said: "It terrifies me to contemplate, Tucker, that people like Alex Jones and in our country, David Icke ... appear to have been ahead of the curve". He added that it was "extraordinary" for how long the pair have been speaking about "globalisation."

Icke shot to prominence after alleging high-profile figures such as US presidents, British prime ministers and even members of the Royal Family were lizards feeding off “negative energy” created by the Illuminati. His controversial views have led to him being previously banned from social media channels and dozens of European countries. He claimed 5G mobile networks were linked to the spread of Covid and in another claimed a Jewish group was behind the virus.

Also on the broadcast interview, Brand spoke about the sexual assault allegations against him as he described them as "hurtful and painful" and told Fox News host Carlson that they were a "deliberate profound attempt to shut down any dissent in an astonishingly aggressive way".

The appearance comes as Brand is still making thousands a week, according to his biographer, despite being dropped by his agent and having his revenue streams blocked by YouTube following allegations of rape and abuse against the comedian last year. He was cancelled after The Times and Channel 4 revealed sexual misconduct claims in their Dispatches documentary, which Brand has strenuously denied. Brand has denied all the allegations made against him, he denies rape, assault and emotional abuse and claims all encounters were consensual.

In the documentary, five women accused him of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse, which led to the 48-year-old comedian being interviewed by Metropolitan police over “further” historic sex offences in December, a month after he was quizzed over the initial allegations raised in the documentary.

However, it has now been claimed that Brand is still coining it in with up to £25,000 per week coming into his coffers from 'off-grid' business ventures, with Tanith Carey, Russell Brand's first biographer, claiming to The Sun : "Brand may no longer be welcome on primetime TV, but even before his mainstream career was torn apart by the allegations of rape and sexual assault, last September, he was concentrating on getting a cult following on alternative social media channels where he had more control. Brand now has a solid and devoted social media following, many of whom aren’t bothered at all by the sexual allegations - and who see them as part of the establishment's conspiracy to silence him."

Carey also claimed that Brand was taking his career in a new direction which seems to be bringing in cash galore: "He is finding re-branding himself as a serious revolutionary and a spiritual guru can also be lucrative."
