Like father, like son... Eric Cowell did not hold back when he took his place on the Britain’s Got Talent judging panel for the first time.
In a deadpan voice, the nine-year-old son of Simon delivered his verdict on a choir at the London auditions. He declared, with a slight American twang: “I didn’t really like the first bit, but I liked the second bit.” Onlookers said his dad seemed a bit embarrassed, but Eric just shrugged. Amanda Holden told the crowd: “He’s a chip off the old block!”
Along with Alesha Dixon, judges Amanda and Simon had invited their kids on to the panel as Teachers Rock, a choir of teachers and kids from disadvantaged areas, tried out. Amanda’s daughter Hollie, 11, said: “I think it was inspirational and a fantastic performance.” Alesha’s daughter Azura, nine, said: “There was a lot of good energy.”
Viewers will see the audition when the show returns in spring. Auditions are now being held at the London Palladium and in Manchester.
