Kieran Trippier insists he is "100 percent committed" to Newcastle following Bayern Munich's failed attempt to sign the defender.

Bayern are in the market for a new right-back and were keen on a move for Tripper, who would have linked up with his former Tottenham teammates Harry Kane and Eric Dier at the Allianz Arena. However, Newcastle rejected an improved bid of £13million and Bayern decided to end their interest.

And speaking to BBC Radio Newcastle following his side's 2-0 win over Fulham in the fourth round of the FA Cup, Trippier reaffirmed his commitment to the cause. "There's no place I'd rather be," he said.

"There's been a lot of speculation about me recently but, as always, I'm committed here. 100% committed, as I have been since I first signed."

When asked about Bayern's interest in signing him, Tripper added: "It's over. As I've said before, I'm committed. I've had a nice break with my family and I'm not worrying about anything.

"I'm committed to the club - they've done a lot for me and I want to give back. I've been quiet but not thrown my toys out of the pram or anything. I'm happy here, like I've always said, and want to give everything for the club.

"I'm old enough now and have been around the block. At my age, I can only take it [Bayern's interest] as a compliment. I'm here now and want to give everything for Newcastle. Unsettling? No, because I'm a professional. I'm experienced and try to block all the noise out."

Trippier's comments come after Bayern's sporting director Christoph Freund confirmed earlier this week that they were no longer in talks with Newcastle over a move for Tripper. Freund told Sky Germany: "It's settled, yes.

"We're only doing something that we're 100 percent convinced of, that's what we've always said. It has to be right for the player, for us and for the club giving it up, regardless of the parameters, and that wasn't the case with Trippier. That's done."
