Justin Timberlake has surprised fans by releasing a music video for his brand new song, Selfish.

The 42-year-old teased the new project on X, formerly known as Twitter, as he shared a screenshot of the video. Justin didn't write anything next to the picture, but he shared a link to his website in a follow-up post. The website contains links for fans to buy his new track and watch the video on his YouTube channel.

The video shows Justin performing on stage to a huge applause, before going behind-the-scenes where there's a painted backdrop of a sunset. The musician then goes through a red-lit door into a waiting room, where he reaches for a red telephone on the wall.

Selfish includes some cryptic lyrics such as: "If they knew what I know They would never let you go." Justin also sings: "Every time the phone rings, I hope that it's you on the other side I want to tell you everything, everything that’s on mind."

The new song and music video come just months after Justin's career was almost ended after the release of Britney Spears' bombshell memoir The Woman in Me. Back in October, the Toxic hitmaker divulged intimate details of her relationship with Justin, who she was with from 1999 until 2002.

The book included allegations that both of them had cheated during their romance. Justin famously alluded to Britney being unfaithful following their split in his hit song Cry Me A River.

Britney wrote: "I felt there was no way at the time to tell my side of the story. I couldn’t explain, because I knew no one would take my side once Justin had convinced the world of his version. I don’t think Justin realised the power he had in shaming me. I don’t think he understands to this day."

She also revealed in the book that Justin had broken up with her by text and said she was devastated after the split. The Princess of Pop also shocked fans by admitting she had fallen pregnant while dating Justin and had an abortion.

She said: "Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young." Britney admitted she doesn't know if it was the right decision and said if it had just been up to her, she wouldn't have done it.
