An episode of Beat the Chasers is said to have been halted due to the professional quizzers on the panel "arguing," according to former contestant and winner Dom Joly.
The 56-year-old comedian - known for prank show Trigger Happy TV - appeared on a celebrity edition of The Chase spin-off in 2021. He took on all five of the chasers during the episode and won £50,000 for charity. He's since spoken about the episode - which also featured Loose Women panellist Brenda Edwards and EastEnders ' Jake Wood as contestants - in an interview. Dom teased that disagreement led to the ITV show being "stopped".

He took on chasers including Mark Labbett, who is known as 'The Beast' on the ITV show (ITV/REX/Shutterstock)According to the Daily Star, chaser Mark Labbett, 58 - better known as "The Beast" - was left unimpressed after he stopped the show to look back at a decision. Dom opened up about the experience whilst speaking to the outlet.
He commented recently: "What I really liked about beating the chasers was how angry they got. You kind of think 'do they give a s***? It's not their money they're handing over'. It certainly wasn't my money either - it was going to charity."
Dom continued: "They started arguing and they actually had to stop the show. And The Beast challenged something and wanted to rethink and in the end, he lost the judgment and then they stopped the clock again. I kind of loved that." Dom had also taken on Shaun Wallace (The Dark Destroyer), Anne Hegerty (The Governess), Jenny Ryan (The Vixen) and Darragh Ennis (The Menace).

He'd appeared on the Chase itself in 2012, almost a decade before he won the spin-off. He added during the interview: "I love doing quizzes, I travel a lot and read a lot, I'm not stupid." Dom further commented: "I don't know whether they dumb down the questions with celeb versions, they say they don't..." The writer opens up about his travels in the Conspiracy Tourist.
