Amazon Prime Video’s animated superhero series for adults is back for the final episodes of its second season. Invincible’s eight-episode sophomore season has been split into two parts, and its hotly anticipated return finally has a release date.

Based on the groundbreaking comic book by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley, Invincible centres around 18-year-old Mark Grayson, who’s just like every other guy his age, except his father is – or was – the most powerful superhero on the planet. In season two, Mark is still reeling from a betrayal while struggling to rebuild his life as he faces a host of new threats, all while battling his greatest fear – that he might become his father without even knowing it.

Invincible’s second season currently boasts a perfect 100 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes and has already been renewed by Amazon for another run. The series is adapted from The Walking Dead creator Kirkman’s long-running comic-book series, which concluded in 2018 after a 15-year run.

Speaking to Amazon ahead of season two, Kirkman called the series “a love letter” to the superhero genre. He said: “The comic book is truly a love letter to a genre that Cory and I grew up reading and loving, and it’s been a gratifying journey to watch our characters come to life again through the animated series.”
