A sweet moment between Prince William and Kate at an event shows the true state of their marriage, according to royal fans.

Resurfaced footage from a 2021 visit to the Belmont Community Centre in County Durham showed the pair sharing a cheeky giggle as they tried their hand at a bit of golf.

The Prince of Wales appears especially amused by the Princess's swing - and one TikTok user even said he "laughs a little too hard".

Kate also has a good chuckle at her husband's attempts to get into position before striking the ball, and many observers said the clip shows how relaxed the couple are with each other in public.

One TikTok user wrote: "Love they both laugh, they're so competitive with each other, he laughs - finally I win one", and another added: "Hahah I love that she laughed it off". A different commenter suggested that William may have enjoyed having the upper hand in the competition for once, writing: "He likes that because his wife pretty much champion on everything else."

Kate, 42, is expected to remain at the London Clinic in Marylebone for at least another week as she recovers from abdominal surgery. Once she is well enough, the 42-year-old will return to her Adelaide Cottage home in Windsor until she resumes her Royal duties around Easter time. Prince William is set to be by her side, and will also take a break from royal duties to give her his full attention.

Royal historian and expert Dr Tessa Dunlop has told the Mirror that Kate's absence will highlight her important role in the Royal Family. She said: "The Princess of Wales is a hands-on mother and for her three children a temporary gap will need to be filled – cue the Middleton grandparents in over-drive. With a recuperation time of several months, Kate’s condition while thankfully not cancer, is serious, and it isn’t only family who will miss her.

"Kate is the Windsor's workhorse and show pony, she is their class act and their everyday stalwart. She seamlessly and without complaint occupies a unique role as the common touch Queen-in-waiting. Effortlessly glamorous, it is easy to forget that this mother-of-three has undergone immense pressure over the last few years with both the death of the late Queen and the departure of Harry and Meghan placing additional responsibilities on her shoulders.
