Elden Ring DLC release date evidence mounts – as YouTube playlist updated

Players could be visiting the Erdtree sooner than they think, as yet another hint regarding the Elden Ring DLC's release date has been uncovered.

We are fast approaching the second anniversary of Elden Ring’s release on PlayStation, Xbox and PC. Usually, this wouldn’t be too significant, were it not for the fact it was roughly around this time last year that FromSoftware revealed the 2022 GOTY winner would be subject to DLC, named Shadow of the Erdtree. Players have been getting themselves in a spin ever since, despite no Elden Ring DLC release date ever being disclosed, yet now there’s yet more evidence it could arrive extremely soon.

In this instance, we have Twitter user and Elden Ring content creator @Ziostorm1 to thank, who in a post revealed that Bandai Namco very recently made an update to both the American and European Elden Ring trailers playlists on YouTube. The playlist was updated and yet… no new trailer appeared. The update occurred on Thursday, January 4, to be exact, strongly indicating that the publisher is prepping either an announcement for the Elden Ring DLC release date (or the release of the DLC itself) via a new trailer.

We should probably take this new Shadow of the Erdtree clue with a pinch of salt, but then the move is also not insignificant either. Why else would Bandai Namco update this otherwise innocuous YouTube playlist were it not to make way for some announcement or reveal? If indeed something of this nature is to come soon, it’s sure to come on or around the time of Elden Ring’s second anniversary on February 25, 2024.

Say something

On its own, the YouTube trailer playlist update wouldn’t carry much weight as far as the Elden Ring DLC release date is concerned. However, this isn’t the first, or even second, time in recent months that something Elden Ring-related has slipped or been updated.

The potential Elden Ring DLC February release window leaked back in December when a third-party Xbox controller intended to “sync with the new Shadow of the Erdtree expansion release” was accidentally listed alongside for a launch sometime in February 2024. Then, more recently, Steam tracker SteamDB noticed that a new update file was added to Elden Ring’s DLC section within the Steam backend – the first for 15 months.

Generally, we can assume that an announcement regarding something Elden Ring-related is scheduled to come soon, and that – despite its best efforts – publisher Bandai Namco is quietly preparing for it. You can bet that when the Elden Ring DLC release date is revealed we’ll definitely know about it, regardless of if it’s part of a wider digital livestream/event or not.
