King Charles will be admitted to hospital next week for treatment for an enlarged prostate.

Buckingham Palace said the King's condition is benign but he will undergo a "corrective procedure". As a result, the 75 year old's public engagements will be postponed for a short period of recuperation. The one constant by his bedside while he recovers will be Charles's beloved wife. Queen Camilla, 76, is the monarch's biggest supporter and is known to bring out the very best in her husband, having been described as his "calming force".

Royal biographer Christopher Wilson, who studied the couple in the book A Greater Love, previously told PEOPLE that Camilla soothes Charles in a way no one else can. "Her presence reassures him," Wilson said. "Despite all the trappings of majesty, it's cold and lonely at the top, and it's easy to see the comfort she provides him."

What's more, when appropriate, Camilla brings a little levity to royal responsibilities, according to royal photographer Arthur Edwards.

"She never lost her common touch," he added. "She makes him laugh. When something triggers them, you see them just laughing together. They do things with such enthusiasm."

Charles and Camilla might have had a controversial start to their love story, but experts say they have an undeniable connection and "deep intensity" that continues to grow.

Body language expert Darren Stanton recently spoke to Betfair Bingo and said it's clear the King is dependent on his wife. He said: "They have the same passion for each other still to this day. During public events, Charles is often looking around and fidgeting when Camilla isn't by his side, which shows how dependent he is on her. But when they are together, we see this genuine laughter shared between them with engaged eye contact, and this shows how they are on the same page emotionally.

"When he was a young Prince, we rarely saw him display a relaxed nature. Camilla brings that side out of him where he can be himself, let go and just enjoy his time as King."

Charles is just as supportive of his wife - and was said to be greatly angered by comments made by son Prince Harry about Camilla. Writing in his memoir, Spare, Harry described Camilla as "dangerous" and revealing that both he and his brother, Prince William, actively pushed their dad not to marry her.

He then doubled down on his attack in a 60 Minutes interview with Anderson Cooper, saying: "She was the villain, she was a third person in the marriage, she needed to rehabilitate her image. The need for her to rehabilitate her image…that made her dangerous because of the connections that she was forging within the British press. And there was open willingness on both sides to trade information and with a family built on hierarchy, and with her on the way to being Queen Consort, there was going to be people or bodies left in the street because of that."

The King is said to have been outraged by his comments - and it remains to be seen whether father and son will be able to move on.
