Liberty Poole's family have spoken out on social media after her ex-boyfriend, Jake Cornish, sensationally quit Love Island All Stars after just three days in the villa.
Birmingham beauty Liberty, 24, is back in the villa on a mission to find love, but unfortunately things quickly became awkward for her when she discovered the public had voted for her to couple up with her ex, 26-year-old Jake. In the awkward scenes which aired on Monday night, Liberty could be seen cringing while stood next to Jake, while he looked painfully uncomfortable.
When host Maya Jama confirmed the news, an angry Jake commented: "I knew it." However, he later went on to say: "I don't hate the girl." Upon seeing Liberty entering the villa, he said: "What are the chances," before saying that there was no bad blood between the former flames.
However, on Wednesday's show, Jake made the emotional decision to leave the villa. Jake summoned his fellow Islanders to the fire pit, where he said: "Everyone can we go to the fire pit for a minute. I was here to find love and there is no one here I have that connection with. I just want to let you all know I am going tonight."
Before he left, Jake pulled ex Liberty for a chat, who was left in tears over his surprise exit. Liberty said: "When I think about him leaving, I actually get really sad and I didn't even expect to get sad." Jake told Liberty: "Don't get upset, what you getting upset for?", adding: "I can't just fake things for the sake of, best thing for me to do is take myself out the situation, I've had a wicked time! I hope you find someone in here. Remember, be yourself!"
Love Island's Haris spills on unaired row between Zara and TanyelLater, Jake seated down in an interview with host Maya Jama to talk about his reasons for leaving, insisting that seeing ex Liberty in the villa had nothing to do with his reasons for going. He said: "Nah, me and Lib, we're wicked. We were sweet from the beginning, it was nice to see her to be honest with you, just to clear up things from before. Closure is key, we left, we're friends now."
And now, Liberty's family have addressed the situation as they continue to run her social media account while she's in the villa looking for love. Taking to Instagram, Liberty's clan posted a clip showing Jake's exit, with the caption: "Our girl handling this like a true [Queen]."
Jake has also broken his silence. In a statement issued through Love Island after his exit aired, Jake said: "After a few amazing days in the Villa, I’ve made the decision to leave Love Island: All Stars as I’ve realised that now isn’t the right time for me to find love as I would never want to force a connection.
"I have no regrets whatsoever as I’m so glad I got to enjoy my time in the Villa reuniting with some familiar faces as well finally getting an opportunity to clear the air with Liberty. I wish her and all of the other Islanders the very best and will be cheering them all on from home."
Liberty and Jake coupled up during the 2021 series of Love Island. However, in a shocking twist, Liberty decided to end her romance with Jake just days before the series seven final, saying at the time: "I just don't feel like you love me for me and I want someone who loves me for me."
Before entering the show, Liberty was asked how she would feel if her ex was in the villa, and in response, she said: "It’s always going to be awkward isn’t it, it’s always going to be weird seeing someone that you’ve been with getting with someone else. I wish my exes nothing but the best. I'm going to be focused on my own journey so if it was to happen I won’t be worrying about them - so I'll stay focussed on my goal, which is to find love."
However, she also said she has "grown" a lot in the past few years since first starring on the show. "I’ve grown so much as a person since I was first on the show, so I’m excited for people to see that. I’m a lot more confident in who I am and sure about exactly what I want from a relationship. I just want to have fun and meet a lovely boy," she said.
