Temperatures in England could plummet to as low as -15C tonight, as the miserable Winter weather shows no signs of improvement.
For many of us, this means staying warm and cosy inside - wrapped in plenty of blankets and putting on our fluffy pyjamas. But nothing quite beats a nice cup of hot chocolate and homemade cookies on a chilly evening.
These two recipes, featured in Gordon Ramsay's cookbook Ramsay in 10, will certainly warm you up - and don't require hours in the kitchen. Yes, it's not the healthiest of recipes, but sometimes you need a little sweet indulgence.
"You don't have to make the hot chocolate, but I wouldn't want you twiddling your thumbs while the cookies are in the oven," the celebrity chef said. "The olive oil, milk chocolate, and Horlicks make the drink wonderfully rich, but a cup of tea would be very nice too."

- Soft butter (100g plus extra for greasing)
- Self-raising flour (150g)
- Light or dark brown sugar (40g)
- 1/3 tsp of cinnamon
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius/ 160C Fan / Gas Mark 4. Grease a large baking tray with some butter, then place the butter, sugar, and cinnamon together in a mixing bowl.
- Using a wooden spoon, cream together the ingredients and then add in the flour. Keep mixing until all the ingredients are fully incorporated.
- Divide the cookies in 12 equal parts and roll them into balls (make sure you have washed your hands for this step). Place them onto the greased baking try and flatten them down with a fork.
- Bake in the oven for several minutes, until the cookies are golden brown.

Gordon Ramsay's rich hot chocolate recipe
Ingredients (Serves 2)
- Whole milk (150ml)
- Milk chocolate (70g)
- 1 tbsp of olive oil
- 1 tbsp of Horlicks
- Whipped cream for serving (optional)
Method
- Whilst the cookies are in the oven, pour milk into a small saucepan and add the olive oil (trust us). Cook a medium heat until the liquid is warm - then add the milk chocolate and Horlicks powder and stir to melt the chocolate.
- Using a whisk, stir the mixture until it all blends together. This should take around two minutes. Pour into mugs then top with squirty cream if you desire. You can also add any other toppings you like here, such as marshmallows, chocolate chips, or chocolate sauce.
Et voila! A quick and easy night time treat that will help you stay warm this winter. PS. if you're not a huge fan of cinnamon, you can always use ginger instead.
