Shoppers are vowing to ditch the popular bargain retailer Primark after fans notice a huge hike in clothing prices.
As the cost of living crisis grips the nation, Brits have been holding onto their pennies closer than ever, but one place that still holds the hearts of the nation is Primark. Known for its on-trend styles but with a cheaper price tag than most other stores, it's one of the most popular high street shops for a reason. But fans are noticing a huge hike in prices - and there is uproar as people claim they used to be able to get a basket full of clothes for £50 but now notice some single items cost a staggering £45 each.
One disgruntled Primark fan took to social media to share her thoughts, as she noticed an item with £45 price tag attached. Demi-Lee Burns, who goes by the name @demileeburns posted the TikTok and said: "Primark isn't Primarking anymore," meaning that the fast fashion store isn't how it used to be.
Demi, who usually posts videos of bargains as well as makeup decided to share her shock at the prices in Primark. She held up the price tag for £45 and then showed another item for £38. Shocked at the prices, the shopper claimed: "I'm sorry but when did Primark get so expensive!? Primark just isn't Primarking like it used to."
Despite the items she picked up being from the lucrative Rita Ora range in store, Demi highlighted: "Its no better quality or designs than the rest of the stuff they sell! The pj's weren't and a blazer I saw for £36. It's all pricier." She then later reminisced about how Primark used to be to her and said: "I remember the days you came out of Primark with a bag full of clothes for £50 and the only bad thing was it getting wet and ripping in the rain."

It seems as if other fans felt the same, as one TikToker chimed: "Can't even afford Primark anymore," and another jibed: "SORRY? £40 for a pair of pyjamas catch me in my knickers at night." A third added: "Those pjs are amazing though and £24 in Tesco but everything else is ridiculous! I go to H&M more now or pay that bit more for Zara."
In response to the customer's perceptions of price increases, a Primark spokesperson said: "We work hard to offer the best value on the high street, something we know is more important than ever to our customers right now. From our everyday essentials, through to our Edit range which features more premium fabrics and detailed designs, we are committed to offering great value across everything we sell."
