Lucas Herbert is set to be announced as LIV Golf's latest signing for the 2024 season, with the Australian joining fellow countryman Cam Smith at Ripper GC.

With just weeks to go until the opening LIV event in Mexico, the breakaway league have taken another step to finally completing their roster, with Flushing It reporting that the 28-year-old has joined Smith and co. The report gained traction when Herbert responded to Flushing It on Instagram, adding in the comments: "How's the photo?"

Herbert will complete another all-Aussie roster for Ripper, as he joins Smith, Marc Leishman and Matt Jones, and replaces the relegated Jediah Morgan.

As recently as last week, Smith was left with a half-full team despite the opening event being less than a month away. He then opted to bring Jones back into the setup, after the Aussie had fallen into free agency at the end of 2023, and it appears he has now acquired the services of a PGA Tour rival.

Herbert is a winner on the American-based circuit, having been crowned champion at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship in 2021. The Australian has two wins to his name on the DP World Tour too, having prevailed at the Dubai Desert Classic, the Irish Open and ISPS Handa Championship in Japan over the last four years.

The 28-year-old will become the latest PGA Tour member to make the Saudi switch, following in the footsteps of Masters champion Jon Rahm last month. Rahm made LIV history in December, after t he Spaniard signed a record-breaking deal with the Saudi-backed league worth a reported £450 million.

As part of his move, Rahm was given the chance to run and captain his own franchise, adding a 13th team to the LIV setup. Despite the maiden event of the year being just around the corner though, there has still been no official announcement on the Spaniard's setup.

Numerous reports have claimed Rahm's four-man team will be named 'Legion XIII', with the recently promoted Kieran Vincent set to be named as a teammate. The Masters champion has also been linked with fellow 2023 major winner Wyndham Clark, who claimed the U.S. Open last June.

Multiple reports also claim that another player on the radar of Rahm is amateur star Caleb Surratt, who plays his college golf at the University of Tennessee. The No. 10 amateur in the world also played a part in the United States' winning-Walker Cup team in 2023.
