A passenger plane carrying people from London to Iceland veered off the runway seconds after landing at its destination.
The EasyJet flight from Gatwick Airport to Keflavik in Iceland touched down and went off the taxiway onto a verge due to bad weather, reports The Sun. Thankfully all the passengers were able to disembark from the aircraft normally. Airline bosses blamed the incident on the winter weather engulfing the country. Flight EZY8843 sped off the taxiway while it was taxiing to its stand, but it was going at a low speed.
A spokesperson for the EasyJet told The Sun: “We can confirm that EZY8843 from London Gatwick to Keflavik went off the taxiway when taxiing to its stand at low speed. All passengers disembarked normally.
“We are doing all possible to minimise the delay for passengers due to return to the UK and a replacement aircraft has already been arranged to operate this flight back to London Gatwick. We would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused.”
EasyJet has had to take the aircraft out of service temporarily and launch an investigation into what happened. The Mirror has conatcted EasyJet for comment.
