Snow and freezing Arctic winds are set to blast the UK with sub-zero temperatures across the board.
As usual, it will be coldest in the Highlands, with the mercury dipping to -10C, but the likes of Manchester (-5C), Hull and Newcastle (both -4C) and London (-3C) will also feel the chill this week.
Up to four inches of “disruptive snow” could fall from Tuesday as the cold weather front moves in from the north.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Scotland but said snow could fall as far south as Exmoor and clip the eastern coast of Norfolk as the blustery gales sweep the nation.
A yellow weather warning has been issued for Scotland (PA)Met Office meteorologist Honor Criswick said: “Throughout the week we are going to see more and more snow showers and warnings, towards the end of the week we will probably see an accumulation.

"We are going to see more rain turning to snow moving east across the country, with more prolonged snow and more accumulations in the north of Scotland and northern England. That’s where we could see 5cm or 10cm of snow in low-lying areas.”
The UK Health Security Agency has warned the weather could have a significant impact on the over-65s and those with pre-existing medical conditions.
It called on Britons to check in on their loved ones.
The freezing conditions did not deter wild swimmers today as they took a dip in the Avon Lagoon in West Lothian.
