Limitless Win viewers have slammed Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly's questions after two lucky contestants walked away with the biggest cash prize on British TV on Saturday night.
NHS workers Helen and Charlie climbed the Limitless Ladder to reach a million pounds poser on the subject of Britpop. And fortunately for the pair, Charlie was confident he knew the answer after recalling his university days.
Asked, "2024 marks how many years since Blur beat Oasis to the UK number 1 spot with the song Country House", Charlie revealed: "29. I Know. It's 29." Shocked Ant then questioned how the finance manager could remain "so calm" before admitting he was "hyperventilating" at the thought of the answer being wrong.
His response proved correct, however, prompting Ant and Dec to jump around the stage as the new millionaires shared a sweet embrace. "This is beyond anything, it's been amazing from start to finish - it’s going to take a while to sink in, I think," declared Helen as the ITV hosts joined them for a hug.
Over on X (formerly Twitter), however, fans appeared to be unimpressed by Helen and Charlie's achievements, and described the questions as "too easy". One user hit out: "It’s 29 years. 1995. Dead easy. Million pound question. F**k me, this is fix."
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundariesAnother agreed: "They couldn't have had an easier bunch of questions to win a million." A third added: "Almost like the producers wanted these NHS workers to win. Such easy questions." And a fourth wrote: "Jeez what an easy question to win a million."
Prior to their win, the couple revealed they wanted to return to Hawaii where they spent their honeymoon, with Helen adding that the kids want "a villa in Mexico with a chef" and a computer.
After the show, meanwhile, modest Charlie explained: "We are going to take our time deciding what to do as this will change things significantly for us. We will pay off our mortgage and Helen has a significant birthday this year, so we are planning to go to New Zealand to see one of Helen’s closest friends who lives there."
He continued: "We also need a new car, which might now be a bit nicer than we were planning. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us so we will use the majority of it to set us and our children up for the future."
The married couple's win came as little surprise to viewers, however, after Ant and Dec revealed earlier in the series that a duo was going to leave with the whopping prize. But despite complaints over the "spoiler", ITV has already confirmed a fourth series is on the cards later this year.
Ant & Dec's Limitless Win airs Saturdays at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
