Burnley manager Vincent Kompany hit out at the officials after yet another refereeing decision went against his team to cost them two points at home to Luton, claiming there was an "obvious" foul missed.

Carlton Morris headed home a last-gasp equaliser for Luton after Zeki Amdouni's first-half goal looked likely to decide the game. Clarets keeper James Trafford went down in the build-up after contact from Hatters striker Elijah Adebayo, but it wasn't considered sufficient to be given as a foul.

For much of the game, it looked as though Amdouni would be the match-winner. Instead, though, Morris' goal was allowed to stand following a VAR check, with broadcasters TNT Sports indicating that Adebayo's contact with Trafford was ruled as a coming-together.

Kompany insisted it was far from the first example of a contentious call against his side. He said he does appreciate apologies when wrong decisions have been made, but couldn't hide his frustration.

"First I expect the referee to see it, it was that obvious," Kompany told TNT Sports. "None of the Luton players have celebrated. Nobody.

"The first look from the striker, which is normal, nothing against him, he's doing his job, but the first look of the striker is towards Trafford and after this is towards the referee... to see if he got away with it. Luckily we've got VAR, we think 'ok that's going to sort it out', and then it rolls, it rolls, it rolls, lack of decision and that's it, Burnley are 1-1."

When informed the PGMOL saw the contact between Adebayo and Trafford as a collision, the Belgian bluntly replied that "fouls are collisions". "What do you think he's looking at? He's looking at the keeper, takes two steps back to back into him - what is it? I don't understand," he continued.

Kompany insisted it was far from the first contentious decision to go against his side. He pointed to a late penalty which saw his side beaten by Aston Villa in December, as well as incidents in matches against Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth.

"To be honest I'm absolutely fine if we concede this goal and it's consistent and this is allowed," he said of Morris' effort. "If everyone can do it then I'll tell my strikers to go out and do it, if not there, on set pieces, on everything. But remember we've just dropped points at Villa after making an unbelievable performance on something that was the softest red card and the softest penalty against us, and it just keeps happening.

"We're a resilient team. I'm not worried about that," he went on to say. "The culture, the players, how it is here. So we'll be ready to go again in the next game.

"But right now you just have to allow us to feel the frustration, because for us what's going to happen is maybe we're going to get a couple of lines in the newspaper or maybe 30 seconds on a feature somewhere. But we won't make the headlines, because we haven't made the headlines when it happened to us earlier in the season - no consequences for no one."
