Bartom founded Jericho Home Improvements in 2009 after wanting to build a "strong culture at Jericho of taking care of employees and doing the right thing", according to his LinkedIn page.

Kansas City Police Department confirmed that a person of interest has been taken into custody but the motive for the shooting has yet to be determined.

The alleged shooting comes just days after horrifying bodycam footage captured the moment Mississippi police stormed into a home with guns and shot an unarmed 11-year-old boy.

Aderrien Murry had called 911 on behalf of his mum as police responding to a domestic dispute before the horrific incident unfolded. The officer involved, Sgt. Greg Capers, remains on the force.

His bodycam footage shows officers pulling up to the home and immediately drawing their guns. In the video, Capers can be seen approaching the door and shouting, “Let me see your hands” repeatedly while a woman stands at the door with her hands up.

He continued to shout for a man in the home. When the 11-year-old boy, Aderrien Murry, came out, the officer immediately shot him. Murry was hospitalised for five days with a collapsed lung, lacerated liver and fractured ribs from the gunshot wound in his chest.

A Mississippi grand jury has declined to indict Sgt. Greg Capers. He was originally suspended, but was reinstated. The grand jury found that Indianola Police Sgt. Greg Capers did not engage in criminal conduct when he shot Aderrien Murry in the chest on May 20 while responding to a domestic dispute.

The Mississippi Attorney General’s Office, who presented the case to a Sunflower County grand jury, announced the decision Thursday. In a written statement, Carlos Moore, Murry’s lawyer, said the family would seek accountability through a federal civil lawsuit.

“While the grand jury has spoken, we firmly believe that there are unanswered questions and that the shooting of Aderrien Murry was not justified,” Moore said. “We are committed to seeking justice for Aderrien and his family.”
