Emmerdale viewers couldn't believe Charity Dingle's real age on the ITV soap.

The character, played by Emma Atkins, revealed how old she was in a recent episode this week. The character then celebrated her birthday with her family in the village, as she turned another year older.

But when Charity confirmed how old she was to her newly discovered grandson Oscar this week, fans were left shocked. Despite Charity having been on the ITV soap for more than two decades, fans believed she looked younger than she was.

Speaking to Oscar, Charity confirmed she was 47 years of age, and that she would turn 48 on Tuesday. As Tuesday's episode aired, she was shown celebrating her big day while hiding the fact she was struggling over a recent incident.

But some fans were distracted, as they believed her to be younger than she claimed to be. Taking to X, one viewer posted: "WOW! Charity is 48 soon. She looks younger," as another said: "Charity has aged well to be fair."

Another fan commented: "CHARITY IS TURNING 48!!! wtf. I say that but I am next month too. 48 isn’t too bad," while a fourth said: "Respect your elders, Charity looks younger though." It comes as Charity attacks her sister-in-law Moira Dingle next week.

Charity continues to struggle to cope with the fact she killed someone in upcoming scenes. Viewers have seen Charity start to spiral, weeks on from her accidentally shooting dead villain Damon Harris, known as Harry.

Chloe Harris' father had kidnapped her ex, Charity's husband, Mackenzie Boyd after he left Chloe for Charity. As Damon went to kill Mack, Charity jumped out to stop him and a struggle ensued, resulting in the gun going off.

Harry was shot and killed and in the fallout, Chloe fled with her and Mack's baby son Reuben. Next week, spoilers reveal both characters are still struggling with what happened, and Charity's terror at killing someone continues to heighten.

Events lead to Moira trying to reach out to her brother's wife, only for her to be attacked by Charity. Will anyone be able to get through to her?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.* Follow Mirror Celebs and TV on , , , , and .
