Two teenagers - including a 16-year-old boy - have been arrested in connection with the murder of a much-loved father.

Deavon Harrison, 46, was discovered seriously injured at a house in Dunstall Hill area, Wolverhampton, and a post-mortem has found he died as a result of a gunshot wound to the chest.

Police overnight arrested two teenagers; a 19-year-old man and the boy, on suspicion of the father of seven's murder. They have been held in Wolverhampton for questioning, West Midlands Constabulary says.

A woman has already been charged with Mr Harrison's murder, since he was discovered lifeless on December 30, 2023. Emergency services were unable to save the grandfather of one at the address.

Kerry Francis, 42, has appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court to face the murder charge. The suspect, who is from Wombourne, Staffordshire, will appear again in court at a later date.

Detective Chief Inspector Laura Harrison, of West Midlands Police, said today: "We are making good progress with our investigation, and are continuing to support Deavon's family. It's still really important that anyone with information who has not yet been in touch speaks to us, so we can build the clearest picture possible of what happened."

The force continues to appeal for information in relation to the murder probe. Speaking last week after the death, Mr Harrison's mother said: "He will be sorely missed by his entire family. Me, his stepdad, 13 siblings, seven children and one granddaughter. We are extremely devastated, shocked and deeply saddened at this tragic news. He was the first-born son of his family. We will love and cherish you always and forever."

A friend posted on Facebook: "RIP Deavon gonna miss you bro... Sending love and condolences to the family." Another friend said: "Devastating, my thoughts go out to his family and friends."
