Netflix has confirmed that a stately home that features in the newly-released series Fool Me Once was previously used as a filming location for another popular TV show.

Fool Me Once was released by the streaming platform on New Year's Day. The show is based on the novel of the same name by author Harlan Coben, whose previously adapted work includes both The Stranger and Stay Close.

The show follows Maya Stern (played by Michelle Keegan) who suspects that her husband Joe Burkett (Richard Armitage), who had been presumed murdered, is alive. It's been teased that the character "uncovers a deadly conspiracy" that is said to "stretch deep into the past".

It's understood that Fool Me Once was filmed at locations in the northwest of England, including in Greater Manchester and Cheshire. One venue that features in the show is the 15th-century mansion Arley Hall, located in the latter county.

The building, located in the village of Arley, is understood to have been used as the home of Joe's mother Judith Burkett (Joanna Lumley) in the Netflix show. The family estate is said to be known as Farmwood in the eight-part series. The property has featured in various TV shows previously, including having been used as the home of Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) in BBC's Peaky Blinders. It's also been on Antiques Roadshow and CBeebies' Something Special.

Netflix has confirmed that the location was used in both Fool Me Once and Peaky Blinders in a post on Facebook. Alongside photos of the venue on both shows, it wrote in the post: "You can't fool me, that's Tommy Shelby's house!"

It prompted a reaction from viewers, some of whom said they had recognised the property. One person wrote: "It knew it." Whilst another said: "I thought I recognised it. Just couldn't remember where from." Someone else responded in the comments section: "Knew I'd seen the building before."

They weren't alone as viewers also reacted to the filming location on X, formerly known as Twitter. One person said: "I knew I wasn't the only one who noticed it was [Tommy's] house." Another tweeted recently: "Do the Burketts in #FoolMeOnce know they're living in Tommy Shelby's house?"

Others said they recognised it from Something Special, which is fronted by Justin Fletcher, who's best known for his role as Mr Tumble. Someone wrote: "It's also Lord Tumble's house." One reply read: "Came here to say this." According to the website for Arley Hall & Gardens, fans can visit the estate in Cheshire, which includes eight acres of "formal gardens". The website notes that the main building itself is even "open several days each month".
