Paddy McGuinness has taken aim at a team of cheerleaders for Luke Littler’s disappointing loss at the darkest international finals this week.
The nation was gripped when 16-year-old Luke emerged as a possible contender for the world champion title after skilfully playing his way to the finals - only to be pipped by 28-year-old rival Luke Humphries. Paddy, 50, had been following the contest and was gutted for the kebab-loving teen when he lost out at the last moment.
But Paddy has floated a surprising theory as to why Luke lost the tournament - and he has targeted the army of attractive women for being too distracting for the teen. Taking to Instagram in the aftermath of the darts final, Paddy shared his theory with his followers and fellow darts fans.
He initially paid tribute to Like Humphries for excelling in the final - before suggesting Luke Littler could have won if it hadn’t been for the cheerleaders. Paddy was lounging around at home and thinking out loud as he recorded his video.

Luke Littler missed out on becoming a world champion this week (Getty Images)The former Top Gear host said: “I am sweating, I absolutely loved the darts but gutted for Littler, gutted for the lad, but Humphries he was monstrous over those last few legs, he turned the screws and deserves to win the championship but Littler will be back next year.”

With his thoughts taking a turn, Paddy continued: “Littler, I’ve got to be honest, I’m blaming those cheerleaders at the top, who thought it was a good idea to roll out a troop of cheerleaders while there was a sixteen-year-old lad on stage?
“He was never going to be able to concentrate. If he’s back next year I’m getting him a set of blinkers. Anyhow, well done Humphries.” But some fans hinted that Paddy's views were dated, with one writing in the comments section of his post: "@mcguinness.paddy might of been looking at a razzle magazine."

He deserves everything he's worked for!" And another commented: “I think Littler not winning tonight will actually hold him in good stead for future championships. What a final.”
The dart player himself has commented on the final outcome - explaining he is thrilled to have finished the contest in second place. He wrote on Instagram: “Happy with runner up, happy to be apart of an incredible final and Russ Bray's last ever final, thanks, everyone.”
Fans rushed to support the teenager, with one writing: “Amazing championship Luke, excited to see what’s next.” And another wrote: “Thank you for entertaining the whole nation over the tournament - smashed it mate.”
