Weddings are supposed to be one of the best days of your life, but the planning process can lead to a lot of stress and disagreements within families.

One bride-to-be is feeling very upset because her dad, who originally said he was going to pay for her entire wedding, won't do it unless it's completely vegan – from food to outfits. She now wants to uninvite him from the wedding.

Taking to Reddit's Am I The A**hole forum, the 30-year-old explained that it all started five years ago when her dad started a relationship with a "lady with quite extreme views". She is vegan and "very judgemental to how I live," said the woman.

After explaining some of the things the woman does, including burying chicken bones in the garden to give them a "proper funeral", she said: "Long story short, my father will only pay for my wedding if it's vegan. This not only includes food, but shoes, alcohol, what other people wear (eg. leather) and anything else you can think of.

"I might have been ok with vegan food, but I'm not ok with policing what others wear or food they may bring for their babies (even formula) etc.

"This has upset me. It's not really about the money, we are having a very small and cheap do anyway. In the run up to the wedding this woman has also been extremely rude to my mother. On reflection I have now decided it’s best all round that they do not attend."

According to the bride-to-be, the woman is now telling her dad's side of the family that it's "just about the money", but "to be honest it’s not really about the money".

Explaining the situation further, she continued: "I don't want to be controlled over what I can and can't do on my wedding day, I'm sick of her judgement (and his, now she's gotten her claws into him) and I just think it will be better for me, my siblings and my mother if they do not come.

"I also don't want to be lectured over milk, dairy, honey, palm oil you name it, on my wedding day and I don't want to put my guests through it either."

The bride-to-be gained a lot of support online, with many saying she is completely within her rights to uninvite them from the wedding.

One person commented: "I think you're right that it will be better if they don't come since they can't keep themselves from trying to control everything and everyone around them. It's insufferable and you don't need that headache on your wedding day."

Many believed she should reach out to her dad and explain the situation, with one person explaining: "All this but I would also have a conversation with your dad. That you love him very much and would have wanted him at the wedding but that policing what other people wear is not okay. etc".

Another said: "Honestly, I'd invite my dad but not his GF [girlfriend], explain to him the issues you have with her."
