Kelly Somers has welcome her first child following her fertility struggles.

The sports presenter took to her social media to share the happy news that she had given birth to her baby girl. In a New Year update, Kelly shared some sweet photos of her daughter. The 33-year-old posted a picture of herself cradling her baby, whose name she is yet to reveal.

She wrote: "Fortunate to have had SO many amazing work opportunities again this year. But I’ll always remember 2023 for one thing… the year life got a whole new meaning. Happy new year everyone." The talkSPORT reporter also shared snaps of her baby enjoying her first Christmas as they posed by their tree at home.

Kelly had previously admitted she'd given up hope of becoming a mum and feels "incredibly fortunate" to have been able to share her pregnancy news. She wanted to work for as long as she could before giving birth and shared a few updates with her fans on social media.

The presenter keeps her relationship with fiancé Max out of the spotlight, but confirmed her pregnancy back in August. Speaking with OK! Magazine as she neared her third trimester, she said: “I’m excited that my baby is going to be born in a generation with the Lionesses as role models."

Kelly’s journey to motherhood wasn't easy as she she admitted: “I never, ever thought I would get to be a mum. I’ve grown up thinking it wouldn’t be possible. I’ve had so many problems, so I just feel incredibly fortunate."

She revealed how she had to delay telling Max the big news as he was on a work meeting and resisted the temptation to tell all his colleagues that he was about to become a dad. “I was in the bathroom, did the pregnancy test and walked out, then realised he was in a meeting and thought, ‘Well I can’t say it now!’" she told the publication.

Max didn't believe Kelly at first and urged her to take another pregnancy test. Yet Kelly revealed he still wasn't convinced so they booked a scan. She admitted the couple didn't expect to be pregnant. Kelly was diagnosed with endometriosis and in 2019, she enlisted a private doctor, who told her she had polycystic ovaries.

She decided to cut out alcohol and "bad foods" as well as having regular scans to monitor her cycle. During one of her scans, doctors noticed a thickening of the uterus and she discovered she was pregnant.

Kelly spoke to The Mirror earlier this year where she admitted she feels imposter syndrome with her job. Despite working tirelessly for more than a decade to become one of the most recognisable broadcasters in English football, she said: "There are very few people that have, and I certainly haven't," Somers tells Mirror Football.

However, the self-doubt forces her to be "ridiculously prepared" for every job she accepts. "It makes you constantly want to work hard and do really well at every single gig you do, but I think imposter syndrome is real in this industry. I'm the first to admit that I suffer from it because there are so many talented people in this industry, and I'm very aware of how fortunate I am to do what I do.

"My New Year's resolution this year was to try and not think too far in front and just enjoy what I'm doing... but I'd definitely say I haven't conquered that."
