Wrexham's League Two clash with Barrow has been suspended for a second time, with Luca Stephenson stretched off following a nasty clash of heads.

Stephenson was a first-half replacement for David Worrall, who was himself stretched off after suffering a head injury. Just 11 minutes into the game, Worrall was involved in a nasty clash of heads that resulted in medics rushing onto the pitch.

The Barrow star received treatment for 10 minutes before being stretched off and replaced by Stephenson. Wrexham owner Ryan Reynolds quickly sent his best wishes to Worrall, tweeting: "Hoping David Worrall is okay."

At that stage in the game, Barrow were already a goal up after Kian Spence fired his shot past Dragons keeper Arthur Okonkwo just 33 seconds in. The match was then suspended due to Worrall's injury before getting back underway at the 21 minute mark.

The hosts took advantage of the resulting extended period of stoppage time, scoring three times to turn the game on its head. Their equaliser came thanks to veteran forward Steven Fletcher, who scored nine minutes into injury time.

Paul Mullin put the hosts in front two minutes later with a free-kick, before Fletcher doubled his tally for the afternoon 13 minutes into stoppage time. Then five minutes after the break, Stephenson was involved in a clash of heads, with the game again being suspended.

The Barrow star was eventually stretchered off, with his club and Wrexham wishing him well as he left the pitch. To rub salt into Barrow's wounds, Fletcher completed his hat-trick to send his side into second place.

As Worrall left the pitch, Barrow tweeted: "Our thoughts are with you Wozza", though have posted no further update on his condition. Wrexham's account also sent their best wishes, tweeting: "Our thoughts are with you, David."

Earlier in the day, it was announced that Mullin had extended his contract with the Welsh side. The striker revealed his delight at putting pen to paper on a new deal.

“I’m unbelievably happy and grateful to extend my stay at Wrexham. Since signing for the Club, I’ve loved every single second. It’s not just become my Club, but my whole family also," he said.

“The chance to perform in front of the support we receive is something you long for as a child. Here’s to creating more memories to last a lifetime – up the town!”

Elliott Lee has also committed his future to Wrexham, with manager Phil Parkinson pleased to have completed two crucial pieces of business at the very start of the January window.

“We’re delighted we’ve agreed deals with Paul and Elliot. They are two really key players for the Club moving forward," Parkinson said.

“There’s always a lot of talk going into a transfer window, but the most important thing is to keep hold of your best players – they are two very important signings for us, and we’re very pleased to have agreed deals with them.”
