Mike and Zara Tindall have been lauded as “essential” members of the Royal Family because their official roles place them in a unique position.

Although the pair aren’t working royals and don’t carry out royal engagements, they are still in the public eye and are often spotted at big events like Prince William’s wedding to Kate Middleton and the late Queen Elizabeth’s funeral. According to PR expert Andy Barr, Mike and Zara’s position in the family means they are free to speak with more independence than other royals and have a “fun vibe”.

He explained how the pair, who married in 2011 and have three children who live alongside them on Princess Anne's Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire, generate good publicity for the Royal Family. The couple had their first daughter, Mia, in January 2014 and welcomed their second daughter Lena in 2018 and their son Lucas in 2021.

Mr Barr told GB News: “The Royal Family is being complemented by the likes of the Tindalls. The Tindall family are close enough to the Royal Family to know what goes on behind the scenes, but distant enough to be able to speak more freely. Every public interaction that the Royal Family has with the Tindalls results in positive headlines. This is because of the fun family vibe that Zara, Mike and their children give off."

The youngest members of the Tindall family reportedly share a sweet bond with Princess Charlotte. Mia and Lena Tindall have grown close to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s second child and the group are often all spotted together at events, such as the late Queen's Jubilee Concert last year.

In one adorable moment at the event, Lena shared her sweets with Charlotte and Prince George. Their bond was clear to see as Charlotte turned around in her seat to share the moment with her family.
