Louise Thompson defends 'toxic' fiancé as he bans her from eating chocolate

Louise Thompson has been forced to defend her fiancé Ryan Libby after fans accused him of fat-shaming her.

The 33-year-old former Made In Chelsea star has been engaged to fitness instructor Ryan since 2018 and together they welcomed a son named Leo in 2021. The couple sparked alarm this week after Louise shared a photo of a chocolate bar with a note from Ryan that read: "This is not allowed".

Louise has been an open book about her personal health struggles - having revealed she was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, a form os inflammatory bowel disease, in 2018 and she regularly informs her fans of her symptoms and side-effects of the condition.

The NHS states that inflammatory bowel disease can cause side-effects including tummy pain, bleeding, tiredness and unexpected weight-loss and states there are treatments available including medications and surgery. Sufferers of inflammatory bowel disease should be mindful of what they eat as some foods can aggravate symptoms.

Over the festive season, Louise gave in to temptation to snack on some luxury chocolate - but 33-year-old Ryan left her a note warning her that this could have a negative impact on her health. Taking to Instagram Stories on Thursday, the TV star shared a snap of an open chocolate bar that had a post-it note stuck on it.

Louise wrote: “Came back to the loo too…” wile the image showed the note stating: “This is not allowed. Think about your gut/butt.” She later confirmed she’d already snacked on some of the product, showing chocolate to the camera and warning: “Oops. I already opened this one.”

The Instagram posts attracted criticism, however, with one follower hitting out at the post to state: “I love you guys. This feels really toxic though” alongside a see-no-evil monkey emoji. But Louise hit back at the comment to state that the jokey note was meant with affection - and a warning for Louise to mindful of her health condition.

She wrote in reply: “FYI he’s referring to my butt because I have horrendous butt problems with my inflammatory bowel disease. We stopped caring about the shape of my butt a long time ago,” alongside a string of crying-with-laughter emojis.

Later, she shared a short video clip of herself standing on some bathroom scales and showing she weights just over 110lbs. The reality star wrote: “For me weighing myself isn’t about control, it’s about making sure I’m healthy. With my inflammatory bowel disease, I like to make sure I don’t experience any sudden drops in weight.”

After her 2018 Ulcerative Colitis diagnosis, Louise became an ambassador for Crohns and Colitis UK. She said previously: "I'm thrilled to be supporting Crohn's & Colitis UK and very excited to be opening WALK IT! It's such a great day and I'm looking forward to meeting lots of amazing people who have Crohn's or Colitis. I'm really happy to support a charity that does some amazing work supporting those with the conditions as well as funding research to try and find a cure."
