A mum who died for 40 minutes has revealed what she saw as doctors tried to revive her.

Former monk Kirsty Bortoft - who was looking forward to a date night with her fiancé Stu - was found "lifeless" on her sofa but with her eyes wide open. The mum-of-three remembers her dad offering to cook a pizza for her sons so the couple could spend some time alone on January 29, 2021.

However, later that day Stu found anxiety coach Kirsty, 49, unresponsive. She explained that medics desperately tried to save her, but she died for 40 minutes. She said Stu told her her skin had "strange" hexagonal patterns all over it. He had begun CPR after finding her in the living room before the first responder used a defibrillator. As she was rushed to hospital, medics warned she had a six per cent chance of survival.

The mum, from Scarborough, North Yorkshire, had a cardiac arrest and was placed in a medically induced coma as her loved ones were told to "expect the worst". While unconscious, Kirsty claims something "magical" happened before she was "brought back" to life, reports the Sun.

"No one at this point knew what was going on apart from my immediate family, but my psychic friend got in touch with my sister and asked what was going on," she explained. "She said my spirit was in her front room and I was asking her to write lists for my boys and dad.

"My sister told her I was in the hospital fighting for my life and apparently, I was there for over two hours. I told [my friend] that my body was breaking down and I didn't think I could back get into it, but she got stern with me and told me to go back. Meanwhile, in the hospital, my family were being told to prepare themselves for the end."

She went on to say: "I recall upon finally coming back in to my body, that I knew exactly what I needed to do to heal, like a download of information. I realised you don't die, only your body moves on and that my mission here wasn't over yet. Without the dark, you don't know what light is and I believe we're here to wake up, grow and refine our vibrations."

Kirsty believes she was able to speed up the healing process through meditation and 10 days in her lungs were x-rayed and the radiographer was "in shock" as the "scarring and water had practically gone". The mum had previously taken her kids to live in the Spanish mountains in 2011 and became a monk four years later.

Due to her past, Stu had also contacted several meditation groups and her friends who "started off a wave of healing work", with people across the world "plugging in to pray and meditate", which she believes helped her return to her body while she was in A&E.
