The 2023 NFL regular season is drawing to a close after the Christmas round of games.
Week 16 saw matches on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, with nearly every team in the NFL having something at stake. Some teams have already secured their place in the playoffs, while others have been knocked out as we approach the final regular season games of the year.
On Christmas Day, the Kansas City Chiefs were defeated by the Las Vegas Raiders, while the Philadelphia Eagles bounced back with a win over the New York Giants. In the clash of the top seeds, the Baltimore Ravens triumphed on the road against the San Francisco 49ers.

NFC
Clinched
Four teams have already secured their spot in the NFC playoffs with two regular season games remaining. Despite their Christmas Day loss to the Ravens, the San Francisco 49ers are still the top seed.
The other three teams that have clinched a postseason berth are the Eagles (No.2), Detroit Lions (No.3) and the Dallas Cowboys (No.5).
Eliminated
Four teams, the Carolina Panthers, Washington Commanders, Arizona Cardinals, and the New York Giants, have already been knocked out of the playoffs.
In the race
With only three spots left in the playoffs, the remaining NFC teams are fighting to secure their places in the postseason in the final two games. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (No.4), Los Angeles Rams (No.6) and the Seattle Seahawks (No. 7) are currently the favourites to clinch a spot.

Clinched
In the AFC, only two teams have secured a playoff spot heading into Week 16. The Chiefs missed their chance to secure their place in the postseason with a loss to the Raiders.

The Ravens, with a 12-3 record, hold the number one seed in the AFC and were the first team in the conference to secure a playoff spot. The Miami Dolphins, holding the number two seed in the conference, join the Ravens in having their spot secured for the postseason.
Eliminated
Four teams from the AFC, the New England Patriots, Los Angeles Chargers, Tennessee Titans, and the New York Jets, have been eliminated from playoff contention.
In the race
There are only five spots left in the AFC playoffs. The Chiefs (No.3), Jacksonville Jaguars (No.4), Cleveland Browns (No.5), Buffalo Bills (No.6) and the Indianapolis Colts (No.7) are currently leading as we head into the final two weeks of the season.
