Prince Harry may well be feeling the pressure to buy his wife Meghan Markle a memorable Christmas present. The Duke of Sussex previously shared that his other half is a great gift giver and really pulled it out the bag three years ago - even though he ended up binning it.
It was the couple’s first Christmas together since quitting their senior roles in the royal family and leaving the UK for the States. At this point, the pair were proud parents to one-year-old Archie; daughter Lilibet would be born the following year.
In his memoir Spare, 39-year-old Harry revealed that Meghan, 42, bought him something that would remind him of home. Taking a trip down memory lane, Hazza wrote that she spotted a Christmas tree ornament with a picture of the Queen on it in a local shop and “thought he would like it.”

That wasn’t the prince’s smartest move, because the tot managed to get his mitts on the trinket and smashed it. He recalled: “I grabbed a dustpan and swept the pieces, all the while thinking: This is weird!”

Harry also once said that his late grandmother, Her Majesty, the Queen, was no slouch in the gift-gifting department, either. “My grandmother asked us what Archie wanted for Christmas, and Meg said a waffle maker. So, she sent us a waffle maker for Archie,” he told James Corden during an appearance on his pal’s talk show. “Meg makes up a beautiful organic mix in the waffle maker, flip it, out it comes – [Archie] loves it, and now I have waffles for breakfast, bit of yoghurt, bit of jam on top.”
Harry and Meghan are currently based in Santa Barbara, California, with children Archie and Lilibet, now aged four and two respectively. Earlier this month (December), it was reported that an invitation to spend the festive season with the royal family had been rescinded. It would have been the first time Harry and Meghan had celebrated the holidays with them since 2018.
The news follows the release of Endgame, a bombshell book about the royals from former journalist Omid Scobie, who has been nicknamed “Meghan’s mouthpiece” and the Sussex’s “cheerleader-in-chief.”
